Tara is said to be the Prajna of Buddha Amoghsiddhi. Tara is the embodiment of the air element and is thus green in color. Tara is also called Irshyarati i.e. the nature of jealousy. When the defilement jealousy is transmuted it becomes all accomplishing wisdom (Sanskrit: Krityanusthan Jnana).

In Advayavajra Samgraha, she is said to be originated from the seed syllable Tam of golden green color. Her recognition symbol is a green night lotus (Sanskrit: Utpala). Tara belongs to Karma family. Tara represents the enlightened activity of all Buddhas of three times. Tara too has many forms i.e. two armed, six armed and eight armed.
