All statues and sculptures are crafted in the Shakya Statues facility in Patan City, Nepal. All the statues crafted in our workshop are made of metal. The metal statues are made as per traditional lost wax process. For each statue, a wax model is made by hand. Wax is made from bee hive. Then wax model is soaked in mud. The master craftsmen have been inherited the traditional skill form many generations, make 2 holes in it after it is dry. Then from one hole the melted metal (copper / bronze / brass / Silver / Gold) is poured and the shape of the wax is replaced by metal. This gives the initial statue. The statue then is carved and polished. And then the statue and sculpture is plated with gold or silver. Face is also painted with gold power. According to the necessity the statue is finished with plated with full gold and half gold, some time the statue is also done in oxidized finished. Semi precious stone like coral, turquoise, ruby, quartz ..etc are used to decorate the statue. The value of these creations cannot be exactly measured in hours or days as an item take intense labor and concentration of a statue artist.
