Agni Deva is also one of the most powerful Devas representing the element of fire presiding in the south east corner. Agni Deva is red in color and has great radiance. Agni Deva is seated on a chariot drawn by seven horses. Agni Deva has seven tongues and three eyes. Agni Deva holds a ladle and a Kamandalu in his two hands.

In the Nepalese Buddhist tradition, in the Guru Mandala rite, offering is also made to this Agni Deva along with other deities.

Agni Deva is especially worshipped and revered in the fire offering or home Yajna performance.

The Guna Karandavyuha sutra relates that Agni Deva is originated from the navel of Arya Avalokiteshvara. Arya Avalokiteshvara instructed Agni Deva to purify the phenomenal world by the fire offered to him. Accordingly Agni Deva promised then to abide by the instruction.
