Hayagriva is also one of the main archetype deities of the Nyingma Order. Hayagriva is one of the emanations of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara in terrific form. Hayagriva has many forms often with three faces, six arms, and four legs, and sometimes with huge wings. Hayagriva can be recognized by a small horse head surmounted on the top of his main terrific head and gives him the name Hayagriva, 'Horse-necked One.' The horse head neighs very loudly and the sound is said to pierce all the false appearance inherent in existence or substantial reality. Hayagriva’s hair is disheveled and protruding from the horse head. Hayagriva wears a crown of skulls and under a belt of skulls hangs a tiger skin. Hayagriva’s symbols are the thunderbolt, trident, lasso, etc.

In this 9” Hayagriva Statue, Hayagriva is shown in his popular form with three faces, six arms, and four legs, and with huge wings. Hayagriva has small head surmounted on the top of his main terrific head and gives him the name Hayagriva, ‘Horse – necked One.’
